Everyone in business, from entry level analysts to C Suite executives, should be able to use Excel. It is so widely used (80% of all companies) that it is basically the “Lingua Franca” of business data communication. And the better you are at using it, the more efficient you’ll be. Excel has been around for 35 years (V1 in 1985) with over 15 major releases. Each release adds new functionality and features. Keeping up with the changes can be daunting. Eric Augusta is owner and principal of Eric W. Augusta & Associates, an Excel consulting practice he founded in 2000. He specializes in designing and building custom Excel solutions for clients that span a very broad spectrum of industries and sizes. He provides on-site Excel seminars for corporations, UCLA Extension and CalCPA Education Foundation. Eric spent the majority of his corporate career with Xerox, where he was VP of Finance for their Computer Services Division in Los Angeles from 1985 – 1994. In 1995 he joined Century Computer Marketing in Marina Del Rey as CFO (which merged with Aurora Electronics and then Cerplex Group). Eric began his career as a financial analyst with Ford Motor Company. He earned a B.A. in economics from Cornell University, served 3 years as a U.S. Naval Officer, and earned his M.B.A. in finance from Wharton, University of Pennsylvania. He is a member of Financial Executives International (FEI), is a Microsoft® certified Excel expert, author of the book “Navigating the Road to EXCEL-lence” and frequently speaks about Excel topics at professional organizations in the greater Los Angeles area.
